Getting Around Bangsar South — A Complete Transportation Guide

By Christopher Wong · PEA 2693 · CID Realtors Sdn Bhd · October 2026 · 3 min read

Updated October 2026. One of the most common questions I get from tenants and buyers is how easy it is to get around from Bangsar South. Here is a practical breakdown: the two LRT stations, how far each condo is from them, and what to expect from buses, Grab and driving.

LRT — Kelana Jaya Line

Bangsar South is served by two stations on the Kelana Jaya Line: Kerinchi on the eastern side and Universiti on the western side. They are next to each other on the line. From Kerinchi station:

  • Universiti — 1 stop. The nearest station to Universiti Malaya.
  • Abdullah Hukum — 1 stop. Linked by covered walkway to KL Eco City and Mid Valley.
  • Bangsar — 2 stops.
  • KL Sentral — 3 stops. Interchange for KTM, MRT, Monorail and the airport trains.
  • KLCC — further along the same line, with no change of train.

For the airport, change at KL Sentral; the Bangsar South to KLIA guide has the step-by-step route.

Walking distance to the LRT, by condo

How useful the LRT is depends on which building you live in:

Condo Nearest station Distance
Novum Kerinchi About 50 m, by pedestrian bridge
South View Kerinchi Covered bridge to the station
KL Gateway Residences Universiti About 240 m
KL Gateway Premium Residences Universiti About 240 m
The Estate Universiti About 300 m
South Link Universiti About 0.7 km
Laurel Residence Universiti About 900 m, plus a free shuttle
Camellia Serviced Suites — Shuttle bus to the LRT

If you plan to commute by train every day, the first five are the ones to shortlist.

Bus services

RapidKL feeder buses run from the Kerinchi and Universiti LRT stations into the township and the surrounding neighbourhoods. The free Go KL City Bus does not come into Bangsar South. Most residents treat buses as a back-up rather than their main way to commute, especially outside peak hours.

Grab and e-hailing

Grab is widely used in Bangsar South, and the offices and shops in the township mean there are usually drivers nearby. As a rough guide to fares outside peak hours:

  • To Mid Valley: RM 7–12
  • To KL Sentral: RM 8–14
  • To Bangsar Village: RM 10–16
  • To Petaling Jaya (PJ Old Town): RM 15–22
  • To KLCC: RM 18–28

Fares rise with demand and rain, so check the app for the price at the time you travel.

Driving

Bangsar South connects to the Federal Highway, the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) and the Kerinchi Link of the SPRINT Highway. Approximate driving times:

  • Mid Valley Megamall: 8–12 minutes
  • Petaling Jaya (Section 14 / SS2): 15–20 minutes
  • KLCC / city centre: 20–35 minutes, depending on traffic
  • Subang Jaya: 20–30 minutes via the Federal Highway
  • Damansara Uptown: 20–28 minutes

Parking in the commercial blocks fills up at peak hours. Residential towers have their own basement or podium parking; check how many bays come with the unit before you sign.

Walking and cycling

Inside the township, covered walkways connect the main towers to the shops and offices. Walking out of the township towards Bangsar proper means crossing some busy junctions, and cycling is fine within the estate but not well supported for longer routes.

Bottom line

Bangsar South works well for commuters who combine the LRT with Grab, and it is especially convenient if you work along the KL Sentral – Bangsar – Mid Valley corridor. It is manageable if you drive to PJ or the city. It can feel isolated if you rely only on buses at weekends.
