How to Get from Bangsar South to KLIA / klia2 (and Back) by LRT and Train

If you’re renting or living in Bangsar South, one of the questions tenants ask most often is: “How do I get to the airport without a car?” The good news is that Bangsar South is one of the best-connected addresses in Kuala Lumpur for airport travel — you’re just one LRT stop away from KL Sentral, which is the direct gateway to both KLIA and klia2.

Here’s the full step-by-step guide, whether you’re heading out on a flight or picking someone up.

There is no single train that runs directly from Bangsar South to the airport. Instead, you do it in two easy legs:

1. LRT (Kelana Jaya Line): Bangsar South (Kerinchi station) → KL Sentral — about 7 minutes
2. KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit: KL Sentral → KLIA / klia2 — about 28–33 minutes

Total journey time is roughly 40–50 minutes door-to-departure-gate, plus a buffer for interchanging at KL Sentral. It’s fast, air-conditioned, and completely avoids highway traffic — a big advantage during peak hours or a KL thunderstorm.

Bangsar South’s own LRT station is called Kerinchi, on the Kelana Jaya Line. This is the same line that runs through KL Sentral, so there’s no need to change lines.

Tip: After 11:00 pm, all trains stop at every station along the way, so journeys take a little longer late at night. The last train from KL Sentral departs at around 1:00 am.

1. From KLIA or klia2, board the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit to KL Sentral (~30–39 minutes)
2. At KL Sentral, transfer to the LRT Kelana Jaya Line towards Putra Heights

If you’re travelling with heavy luggage, a group, or simply prefer door-to-door convenience, a Grab (e-hailing) or airport taxi from Bangsar South takes around 45–60 minutes depending on traffic, at a higher cost than the train but with no transfers involved. During peak hours, the train is usually the more reliable option since it isn’t affected by highway congestion.
